Florida Quilt Shop

While down to visit with Roger's Mom we made a quick trip over to the Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop in Trenton Florida.
This is part of the walkway into the shop.  Beautiful artwork on the walkway.
In addition to the cute cafe they have in the shop they also have tables outside so you can enjoy the Florida HEAT and a snack.  I opted for the indoor air conditioning for my snack...hehehe.
After doing a little looking around we all sat down for a dessert.  Alberta had a wonderful strawberry lemon pie, Roger had cherry pie, Dan had coconut pie and I had the coconut cake.  It was wonderful.  They have also added a soda fountain to the shop where you can get custom milk shakes and ice cream.  There was a line at the fountain the entire time we were there.  It must be a very popular addition to the shop.

Here is Roger and his mom alberta while enjoying their dessert.
As I broused through the store I noticed a display of local miniature quilts.  This was a tiny 6 inch by 12 inch quilt.  yikes look at those tiny half square triangles in the border.
Another cute miniature of shirts and ties.
I found my way back to the seasonal fabrics to see if I could find some more halloween fabrics to use on my rag quilt.  I found this piece and had to hoot.  This looks like my cat whiskers when he has gotten soaked in a rain storm and waiting on me to dry him off!  Yes, I did buy some of this fabric.
Another cute quilt hanging behind "Sonny" the bird's cage.  It looked like stained glass with the sun coming from the window behind it.
And here is Sonny......the boss of the quilt shop.  He was whistling at all of the ladies today.  The ladies at the shop said that "Sonny" was in a particularly good mood today.

Outside the shop there is another building which houses an antique store, here in front is an old claw foot  bath tub with flowers.  Cute and rustic.
If you ever get a chance to come through the small town of Trenton Florida make sure you check out the Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop.  Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop   They have over 6,000 bolts of fabric and an entire room of books.....but don't forget to leave room for lunch and dessert.

Happy Quilting,
Shelia

I can't believe how tiny those triangles must be. It had to have been paper pieced, how could one even hold onto such small pieces to sew. Thanks for the tour.

Thank you for the review of our local quilt shop. It's in the old Coca-Cola building which the owner (Stephanie Metz) restored, along with the neighboring Ice House building. MarciaFlorida
