Mother's Day Family Luncheon

Today we had Mother's Day lunch at my house with family who could attend.  It is so hard with everyone's schedule and spread out all over the nation to get everyone together.  But we had a wonderful day today.  I am so blessed to still have my mother here with me and enjoy spending time with her and quilting together.  Precious memories.

The Coop Is Ready

The "girls" chickens are ready and their new home is also ready.  My husband Roger has been working tirelessly to get the coop built for the girls.  They are getting sooooo big and are ready for their new condo.

The girls still look small here but are getting so big and are happy in their new, bigger accommodations. 

Of course I had to check on the girls on their first day in the new coop.

Alberta's 81st Birthday Celebration

My mother-in-law Alberta turned 81 today and we were in Florida to see her and celebrate with family.

Below is Alberta with her cake, so surprised.

We were at her daughter Rhonda's house for dinner.

I also made her the favorite pie she loves, fresh strawberry.

 And yes I am going to eat a piece of this pie!!

 

Next it was on to taking those (dreaded by all) family photos.  (dreaded by all but priceless and appreciated at later dates by all I might add!)

First is Alberta and her two remaining children, Rhonda and Roger

Then to one of her grand-daughters Amanda.  Amanda lives hear her granny and is able to spend alot of time with her.  What a precious gift!

Next is Rhonda, Alberta, Amanda and Alberta's husband Danny all clowning around.

 Then there is Roger and myself with Alberta.

 Gift opening is always fun.

 Mom Alberta had wanted a rice cooker, so of course that is what she got.

Precious memories with family and blessed to still have her with us.  Happy Birthday Alberta.....we Love you!!

Happy Birthday To Me!!

I always say that I am blessed more than I deserve and it is true.  Today marks my 55th birthday.....wow!  I can't believe that I am actually that age.

I received several new pincushions to add to my collection.  If you've not read about my pincushion collection you can read about it and see it here on my blog. Shelia's Pincushion Collection

First I received a custom made penguin pincushion from my bee friend Sue.  Isn't she precious....and of course you know I love pink!! 

Next my husband picked up some antique pincushions for me. The chicken, a settee, and the chair pincushion/thread holder.  These are great!!  I love seeing what quilters and seamstresses have used to store their pins for years.

My Chicks Have Arrived

Today our chicks flew in from Iowa.  They are precious little "peeps".  I can almost see them change overnight.  So cute.  Several of us at work went in together and purchased a large group of Brown Egg Layers and split the group.  As they mature hopefully I will be able to better identify them.  For now they look a lot alike and nothing like they will when mature.

Always a use for crumbs of fabric......hehehe.

Our little flock will be providing us with eggs very soon........well in about 20 weeks maybe.

My Quilting Plan For 2015........UFO (Unfinished Object) Busting.

I don't necessarily make New Years Resolutions, but I do make plans that I want to accomplish in the year.  I am a list maker and completer so resolutions is not really what I do.  I set a goal, make a plan, and then accomplish it.  That is they way I have always done and guess that I always will.

The first decision I made for this year is that I have plenty, plenty.....can I say plenty of fabric.  I do not plan on purchasing ANY fabric this year.  I want to use the fabric that I currently have in my stash and make projects with this current material.  Below is a picture of my current stash.  As you can see it is overflowing and needs to be used.

So with that being said, I have reviewed my pile of UFO's using the Pat Sloan system again.The original plan was posted on this link Finishing UFO's January 7, 2012.  From this original plan I have finished some of those quilts and of course I have added some more to this pile.  I am starting with that list, taking out those completed, and adding the new projects to this list. Pat Sloan suggests that you pick 3 to 10 projects from your sorted groups to finish this year.  She suggests that you

1. Pick one that is Fast to finish-  My Christmas Braid
2. Pick one that has a Current Deadline - A Quilt of Valor for Suzanne to award
3. Pick one you So love working on- I have a Halloween Rag Quilt from scraps
4. Pick one that is a Long Term project- My Cathedral Window travel quilt.
5. Pick one or two that will be Gifts!-  I have two quilts for family that I am piecing.
6. Pick one you Love and can finish easily- My 3-D quilt from Lanette Edens class

I pulled out all of my UFO's both those on the old list which still remain and any new UFO's which have been added since the original list was make and the projects are sorted into the following groups:

• Group A:  Almost Done
• Group B:  Almost Done....but I do I really want to finish it???
• Group C:  Partially Done--I love and want to finish

Now I do have to add a disclaimer here.  This list does not include any of mom's projects that I will be quilting for her, so those must be intermixed with my projects as those are very important for me to quilt for her.
